table manners

/ˈteɪbəl ˌmænərz/
IPA guide

Table manners are about how you conduct yourself while eating with others. Good table manners involve using your utensils and napkin properly, speaking politely, and not slumping, slurping, or stuffing your face. Bad table manners are — just the opposite:

I once brought home a dinner guest,
Or should I say a dinner pest?
His table manners were beyond belief
And brought my family shock and grief.
After commenting on my mother's weight,
He sneezed and reached across her plate.
"Hey, are these all the rolls you've got?
Another three would hit the spot!"
He said the beans were way too cold
And spit them out right in the bowl.
He used his hands to eat the pork,
Then picked his teeth with a salad fork!
